Decorating for Winter
Like each other season, winter can be a beautiful season to decorate for. When designing with winter dcor, remember the climate changes that are taking place and how those climate changes are affecting plants and greenery. Wintry flowers (poinsettias, many white flowers, and a few other species), coniferous plants and elements, and bare tree branches can all be used to create a beautiful winter display. Inevitably your winter decorations will involve Christmas colors and elements, including wreaths and garlands. Many of these decorations work for the rest of the winter as well; just make sure these decorations have the right feel for January and February as well as December.
The Array of Silk Trees Available
Most people, when they start their research for getting a new silk tree or bush, are surprised by the great variety of options available to them. The most well-known silk tree is the pine tree (Christmas tree). There are also many unique varieties you may not have had the chance to consider. Artificial banana trees give a tropical feel to the room with their wide-sweeping, sturdy leaves and thin but sturdy trunk. You can get a completely different look by choosing a bonsai tree, which has much smaller and more delicate foliage. These trees are obtainable in many different arrangements and designs. A third, less commonly used idea is silk grass, including bear grass, horsetail, and even cattail. Be sure to look around at some of the many choices available to you so that you can get the best fit for the space you are decorating.
Designing with Topiaries: Silk or Real
One of the biggest designing tips when working with topiaries is to give them enough space to look good. Also, it is helpful to experiment with some of the many designs and sizes of topiaries that exist. The taller, rounder look works well in the workplace. We also recommend that you choose a silk topiary. This way you will not have to worry about water, bugs, or plan food. These trees can also look good in homes and churches. Whether you are looking for a large tree to adorn a great empty space or a tiny plant to place on a table or desk, you will be able to find the size you are looking for with silk topiaries. Many arrangements include some topiary elements within a more standard display.
Using a Tropical Theme
A specialized theme is a fun way to decorate a room. In addition to seasonal themes, it is very easy to find decorative ideas for themes based on certain environments. There are some simple tips that go a long way to creating a tropical feel. First, to simulate a tropical feel, use a lot of greenery. Use plants that have very large, lush green leaves. Common thematic elements are palm trees and bright tropical flowers. The secret to making a good tropical design is balance. You will want to offset your more intense colors with more soothing background piecesâ”remember, tropical should not only be invigorating, it should have a feeling of relaxation as well. Keep in mind that the more natural your look is, the better your tropical theme will work.
