Advice Editorial: A Point for Functionalism Plus More by Misha Vasser
Home decor can be a lot of different things to a lot of different people. One thing that it should never be is dysfunctional. Though âless is moreâ doesnât always have to be the rule when decorating, âas much as is humanly possibleâ hardly ever looks nice. Some overzealous decorators have so many large decorative items that one cannot even walk around efficiently. Some garages are so full of stored seasonal furnishings that nothing else will fit. In order to avoid some dysfunctional methods when designing for your home, first consider the purpose of the room that you would like to decorate. Think about the kitchen: most people use all the counter space they have, so to fill that area with knickknacks is usually a bad idea. Bedrooms, by contrast, are a great place to add flourishes and accents, since it is mainly a room for resting and for storing personal times. A good rule of thumb is if you need to move a decorative piece out of the way more than twice a week, it probably should be thrown out or exchanged for a more functional item.
Steps to Building a Wreath
A lovely wreath on your door will tell visitors to your home something about you before they even step inside. There are many ways to be creative when you make a wreath: the combinations of colors, shapes, and themes or styles lead to endless possibilities. For a simple wreath start with any desired foam ring and silk flowers; these can usually be obtained at a local craft store. Most likely, the stems of your flowers will be too long; trim them so that there is about 1 inch of stem remaining. Then push the stems of each flower into the ring. Strategically place them so that they are close enough to cover up the foam, but not so close that they look bunched or crushed. As you add the flowers, it is a good idea to dot them with a little glue from a hot glue gun at the point where the stem comes out of the foam. A little extra green in your wreath is often a nice touchâ”use leaves or vines to supplement your flowers. You can theme your wreath to the time of year, or use regional flowers for a more local look. To finish, tie a string around your wreath and hang it on a small nail in your front door.
Benefits of the Bamboo Plant
The bamboo plant is currently one of the most popular choices in plants. A few of the reasons why they are so highly sought after are their intricate designs, stability, and endurance. They are great for the home and the workplace because they do not require a lot of watering. This resilience has even given rise to the rumor that the plant will not die unless someone has been disloyal to you. Bamboo plants have very interesting, intricate designs and work well with silk flower arrangements. If you decide to purchase a bamboo plant, be sure to get the right size: it will need room to mature if it is a live plant! Often, the leaves of the bamboo plants are quite broad, so be sure to dust them if you choose an artificial one. You will not regret your decision to decorate with bamboo!
Watering Your Plants
Watering your plants is not exactly a difficult science; however, many of us do make the mistake of not giving our plants the right amount of water. An excess of water is a very typical occurrence that can actually do a lot of damage to your plant. Too much water will not only drown the plant, but too much water will also drain the nutrients out of the soil. Also, if your plant is continually stuck in water, its roots will gradually become rotted. A great solution to keep your plants healthy and well watered is to look in your home decor gardening section; they will have a lot of plant waterers. They are made to slowly release water into the soil in proper quantities.
silk flowers, plants, wreaths, and trees add a beautiful, natural-looking touch to any home or workplace. Visit SilkGardenOnline.com to meet all your needs for silk flower arrangements, including silk roses, tulips, orchids, and more!
