Knowledge Scoop: Decorating with Silk Grasses by Misha Vasser
As you decorate your home, one consideration you may not yet have made is to use silk grass arrangements. This works especially well in homes that have warm or desert-like colors and Western styles. Grass arrangements are typically smaller than plants and can be compared to silk flower arrangements. Not only do silk grasses work well on their own, they also make great ornaments for bigger plants and trees. Another place you may put silk grass is by indoor water fountains and along windows. A benefit to silk grass is that they provide a fresh change from more ordinary flower arrangements. Silk grass is just one more way to add new elements and designs to your beautiful home.
Silk Maple Trees
One of the most beloved trees is the breathtaking maple tree. The Canadian flag is just one place that proudly displays the maple leaf. These distinguished maple leaves have three main points with several smaller points jutting from their edges. It is amazing how well the look of the leaves is reproduced in silk maple trees. In terms of quantity, there are a lot more leaves on silk maple trees than most other silk plants. With so many leaves, the tree appears very verdant and fertile, but keep in mind that silk trees do need a periodic cleaning. Since cleaning the leaves of the silk tree realistically usually only happens once or twice a year, one should not judge this to be too much of a bad thing.
Watering Your Plants
Supplying your plants with the right amount of ware is not hard to do, but it helps to know a few basic rules. It is all too easy to douse our plants with too much water. Excessive water drains nutrients your plant needs from the soil. Also, if your plant is continually stuck in water, its roots will gradually become rotted. You can prevent under- or over-watering by using a devise such as a watering bulb. These rather simple mechanisms are regulated by air pressure within the soil; water is naturally drawn from the bulb into the soil when it starts to get dry.
The Endless Diversity of Artificial Trees
Many people find it surprising to see that there are literally hundreds of styles of silk trees to choose from. The most well-known silk tree is the pine tree (Christmas tree). There are also many unique varieties you may not have had the chance to consider. Artificial banana trees give a tropical feel to the room with their wide-sweeping, sturdy leaves and thin but sturdy trunk. A very diverse look from this is the bonsai tree, whose leaves are tiny and very intricate by comparison. These trees are obtainable in many different arrangements and designs. Silk grasses, like cattail or bear grass, are unique and rarely used but very interesting decorative pieces. The more you get to look at and experiment with different alternatives, the more likely you are to hit on just the right design for your home.
