Improving the Look of Your Home Even Before You Decorate It
It is stated that cleanliness is next to godliness. The goal of interior decorating is to have your home looking as aesthetically pleasing as possible. Time, however, is usually not on anyoneâs side when it comes to having a pretty and fresh-looking home. It is easy to think about changing the decorations within our home when we want to improve the look of our house. However, some changes in how we keep our houses clean can do just as much. One simple way to efficiently keep your house clean is to put a list of chores together that includes tasks needing to be done a few times a year. Then, rather than having to dedicate a whole day or week to these chores, take twenty or thirty minutes a couple days each month and take care of them. Another time-saving strategy is to make sure the rest of the family is helping you! Not only is it their responsibility, too; having everyone help frees a lot of your time and makes you a lot more fun to be around. Third, as you clean and organize, place labels on containers and shelves so you know where everything has been placed and where everything is supposed to be.
Decorating with Topiaries
The topiary field is an example of horticultural artwork: topiary plants are trimmed and shaped into specialized figures and designs. Some plants that work well for creating topiary designs are hedges (a more western choice) and bonsai tries (commonly used in the east). There is almost no end to what can be created: people and animals, geometric shapes, and detailed landscapes and mazes are all common choices. Many people who love topiaries but do not have a place to display a 20-foot shrub choose to decorate their houses with much smaller silk topiaries. You have probably seen silk topiaries before in the workplace or in churches and other public buildings. The most common design for the silk topiary is the spiral. This is due to the small offices and spaces that these topiaries are required to fill.
Decorating with Ferns
There are two distinct ways of decorating with greenery. Many people find their favorite plant, purchase it, and then rearrange the set âup of the room in a way that flatters and provides space for the plant. The second method is to arrange the house they way you want it, and then look for the right sized plants to fill in the spaces. Ferns are a great way to add nature into a room without taking too much space. The nature of the fern makes it a natural choice for smaller areas due to its fine, tiny leafage and ability to fill the space it is given as it matures. You can find a great selection of ferns, both real and silk. A great benefit of live ferns is that they are hardy and will do well in a variety of settings. Even more easy to maintain and care for are silk plants. Be aware that when you choose a fern, you are not selecting a very colorful or eye-catching plant, though it still makes a lovely accent. One great idea is to have a display of several ferns (perhaps along a table or a window sill) with a flower arrangement as the focal point.
Decorating with Palm Trees
Often the only tree that comes to peopleâs minds when they hear âartificial treeâ is the Christmas tree. If there was one example to break the mold of this silk tree pattern, it would be the palm tree. These two tree types are extremely different, not only in local environment but also in appearance. There are hundreds and hundreds of different styles of palm trees; the same goes with silk palm trees. Of course, the most popular variety is the stereotypical palm tree (some even come with coconuts!). Because the palm tree has very broad, extended leaves, you will want to know the girth of the tree. It wouldnât do to have your palm tree arrive and not have enough room for it! For beginners, I would recommend getting a small palm tree to spruce up the bedroom, office, or even the kitchen area.
