Impressive Silk Shrubbery Enrichment: Useful Counsel by Misha Vasser
Drying and Preserving Flowers: The Basics
Drying flowers after special occasions like weddings, graduations, or other fun events is a great way to preserve memories. Because flowers wilt within 2 to 3 weeks (and sometimes closer to 2 to 3 days), you will need to dry them once they are done being displayed. Two techniques for preserving flowers lead to two totally different looksâ”but neither is difficult to do. The first is to hang the flower(s) upside down. You will need to dry them in a place with little moisture and light to get the maximum beauty preserved within your flowers. Also, dried flowers are very fragile, so to prevent damage we recommend placing them in a case or shadowbox. Pressing flowers is another way to preserve them, though they will have a very different look from dried flowers. Since this process does not work very well with bigger or rounder flowers, consider pressing the flowerâs petals rather than the whole flower; with small, delicate flowers, pressing yields very pretty results.
Making Sure Your Plants Get the Right Amount of Water
Though you do not have to have a green thumb in order to keep a home plant alive, it is good to know how much water intake is necessary to sustain them. One of the most common mistakes that you can make with the home plant is giving it too much water. Excessive water drains nutrients your plant needs from the soil. Root rot is another common ailment when using too much water because the plant is sitting in water constantly. One way to ensure your plant gets the proper amount of water is to use a watering bulb or other controlled watering devise. They are made to slowly release water into the soil in proper quantities.
Decorating with Kids
Even if you have little kids, you still probably want to enjoy a beautified home. Of course, completing home decoration projects can be hard to do if children are constantly suspending your work or somehow getting in the way. When decorating in a home with small children, one of the best things you can do is give them the project of their own. These experiences are ones kids (and you) will rememberâ”and you are giving your children an opportunity to take pride in their endeavors. With a little creativity, you will find that many projects can involve your children. Using hanging baskets, tall trees, and other large items that cannot be pulled down or messed up is always a good idea.
Selecting the Best Container for Your Greenery
When decorating with flowers and other greenery, donât underestimate the importance of the pot!The right pot is determined by the style, size, and color of the plant. The bonsai plant is a great illustration of this: because of its appearance and origin, you will want an Oriental pot with a clay or stone material. Since bamboo plants are quite trendy right now, using metallic materials and fashionable designs works well. Make sure to do some shopping around before you settle on a design, since there are many options available to you!Another quality to play around with is how big of a container you want. Some arrangements are arranged around a very large decorated pot, and in other arrangements the pot is barely visible.
