A decision to make as you decorate your home is whether you want to use silk plants and flowers or real ones. Each choice has positives and negatives. Make sure that if you choose live plants, sunlight and water are readily available to them. If there are a lot of insects where you live, real plants and flowers may not be a good idea, because critters often make their homes there. An advantage to live plants is the green thumb you develop as you care for them and watch them grow. Silk or artificial plants are great for storage when you are not using them, such as wreaths or seasonal items. They also are lighter and easier to move. If you decide to go with silk plants, judge carefully how realistic they seem. Many silk plants and flowers are rendered so perfectly that observers cannot tell their authenticity without touching them. The best compliment an artificial plant can receive is, âI thought it was real!â
Desert Dcor
No matter where you live, incorporating a little of your surroundings into your home dcor is a wonderful idea. Home decorating can take a unique approach in desert areas. Cacti and local grasses (like horsetail or bear) have a natural and rustic look. Be creative with your desert dcor by adding rock arrangements or sand. Aside from the greener plants, focus your colors on reds, oranges, yellows, and browns. It wouldnât hurt (literally) to decide on a silk cactus as opposed to a live one. Though there is nothing life-threatening about a cactus, unknowing children still wouldnât appreciate touching them!
Adding Decorative Topiary Plants
As you decorate with topiaries, make sure there is adequate room for your plants to look well-designed. Also, it is helpful to experiment with some of the many designs and sizes of topiaries that exist. The taller, rounder look works well in the workplace. Since many people do not have the time or ability to make sure their office plants are well watered and have plenty of natural light, silk topiaries are often the best way to go. Another place where the benefits of silk plants will be helpful is your church.
