Orientation Course: History of Topiaries by Misha Vasser
The definition of a topiary is a plant that is trimmed in a fashion not ordinarily appearing to be a plant. Most often the plants used for topiary purposes are extremely dense. Animals such as rabbits, elephants, and bears, mythical gods and heroes, intricate patterns and designs, and huge mazes have all been incorporated into topiary artworks. Though real topiaries are often enormous in scale, there are many, many designs available with smaller silk plants. Silk topiaries are most often found in offices or churches. Frequently, these topiaries involve a spiral design, which is small and easily displayed but still beautiful.
Watering Your Plants
Though you do not have to have a green thumb in order to keep a home plant alive, it is good to know how much water intake is necessary to sustain them. It is all too easy to douse our plants with too much water. Excessive water drains nutrients your plant needs from the soil. Root rot is another common ailment when using too much water because the plant is sitting in water constantly. You can prevent under- or over-watering by using a devise such as a watering bulb. These rather simple mechanisms are regulated by air pressure within the soil; water is naturally drawn from the bulb into the soil when it starts to get dry.
Designing Wedding Flowers
There are few times in oneâs life as thrilling as a wedding. Every wedding can do with some flower decorations to heighten the attractiveness of the ceremony and/or celebrations. Here, the possibilities seem endless, but sticking with one or two styles enhances the harmony and beauty of all the flower arrangements. Breaking up the job of arranging wedding flowers into these steps will simplify your task immensely.
Decorating for the Winter Season
Every season or climate has its own special elements that make it unique. When designing with winter dcor, remember the climate changes that are taking place and how those climate changes are affecting plants and greenery. The most basic elements that exist in winter decor, or winter decorations, are pine trees, firs, branches of trees, or very unique flowers that thrive on a winter environment. Much of winter decor revolves around Christmas, therefore Christmas tree pines, wreaths, and any other type of Christmas decor is perfectly acceptable. However, if you’re planning to use this decor through the winter season, base your decor design on more generic wintry elements that can be added to during the Christmas season.
