Cleaning is Just as Essential

When people venture into the world of interior decorating, it is usually with just one goal in life: to make their home look more attractive. Now as we all know, life can have a funny way of constantly getting in the way of that goal. If you are like me, half the battle in your home is just keeping it tidy and organized, let alone getting around to the next interior design project. We can improve the look of our home by creating a schedule of all the periodic tasks one needs to do to keep the house clean (such as cleaning blinds, washing bedding, or dusting picture frames). This way, you can spend just a little time each month doing some of these jobs rather than being stuck several times a year doing them all day long. Another time-saving strategy is to make sure the rest of the family is helping you! Not only is it their responsibility, too; having everyone help frees a lot of your time and makes you a lot more fun to be around. Third, as you clean and organize, place labels on containers and shelves so you know where everything has been placed and where everything is supposed to be.

Ferns

When incorporating plants and other greenery into your home, there are two ways to go about the process. Many people find their favorite plant, purchase it, and then rearrange the set â€up of the room in a way that flatters and provides space for the plant. The second method is to arrange the house they way you want it, and then look for the right sized plants to fill in the spaces. Either way, if you do not have a huge amount of room but you want an adequate amount of greenery, using ferns is a good choice. The nature of the fern makes it a natural choice for smaller areas due to its fine, tiny leafage and ability to fill the space it is given as it matures. There is a wide variety of live and artificial ferns. Ferns are pretty resilient, and are fairly easy to care for and maintain. Silk plants need no maintenance at all, and will stay the same size, so there is no need to worry about them growing too large. Unlike flowers, ferns do not naturally draw the attention of the eye but work well as backdrops to other home decor items. In this fashion you can set up a great theme or pattern using ferns as a backdrop and beautiful flower arrangements that pop out and catch the eye.

Decorating with Silk Orchids

There are over 30,000 types of orchids, and almost four times as many orchid hybrids. Because the natural orchid flowers have so many distinct variations, their silk counterparts are also as numerous. One trait all orchids share is a leaf pattern that is semi-symmetrical. With orchids, all of the petals and the flower’s center are exposed. They incorporate stunning combinations of colors and employ a semi-symmetrical design, like their leaves. Flower arrangements including orchids should display that flower as the dominant one in the display. One beautiful way to design these flowers is to let them hang over the edges of a beautiful vase. Another is to place them as the centerpiece of an arrangement, with various greenery encircling them. Most orchids are very vivid-looking, but you can find orchids in pretty much any color you can think of. Another plus to this family of flowers is that they can be used in decorations for any time of year.

Winter Dcor

Though each season is fun to decorate for, winter decorations seem to hold a special place in everyone’s hearts. Keep in mind as you decorate with plants and other foliage how the changes in weather and temperature will affect them. Some of the most popular items to use in winter decorations are evergreens, branches (sometimes frosted), and that special selection of wintry seasonal flowers. Of course, decorations tied to the Christmas season play a major role in winter decorations. However, if you’re planning to use this decor through the winter season, base your decor design on more generic wintry elements that can be added to during the Christmas season.
