Plants as Interior Dcor
One of the best things to remember when you’re designing for home silk plants is the size of the plant. When you add plants to larger coffee tables and to dining room and kitchen tables, choose plants that are 1-2 feet high. You probably want something with wider leaves to attract the eye and the attention of the visitor. On the other hand, decorating for a corner will require more vertical movement and longer leaves to make it âpopâ more for the viewer. The more you plan ahead and experiment with different options, the happier you will be with the final result. Keep in mind that artificial plants have an advantage over their real-life counterparts in that you do not have to constantly water them, they do not attract bugs, and they last about three times longer.
Tips for Seasonal Dcor
There are a few ideas you may want to think about as you decorate for each season of the year. One of the best things you can do to reduce the clutter and the need for storage is to have a specific place in your home for thematic design. For example, put up a couple shelves in a prominent place and adorn them with seasonal decorations, or set up a calendar area that showcases monthly dcor. If you have young children at home, a cute way to decorate with durable, non-dangerous materials is to choose a stuffed animal and change what it wears with each month or season. One way to save money and space is to reuse what you have. Sometimes what may be considered as a very season-specific decoration can be adjusted to fit other seasons as well. Retooling your wreath is one way to save on space: instead of having a wreath for every occasion, use one wreath base and change out its decorations.
Decorating for the Winter Season
Like each other season, winter can be a beautiful season to decorate for. One cautionary tip is to make sure any plants you decorate with are hardy enough to withstand the wild changes in temperature and precipitation that winter can bring. Some of the most popular items to use in winter decorations are evergreens, branches (sometimes frosted), and that special selection of wintry seasonal flowers. Of course, decorations tied to the Christmas season play a major role in winter decorations. Many of these decorations work for the rest of the winter as well; just make sure these decorations have the right feel for January and February as well as December.
Involving Your Children in Interior Decorating
The need to decorate the interior of your home often hits even when you have little ones to raise. Of course, completing home decoration projects can be hard to do if children are constantly suspending your work or somehow getting in the way. Rather than trying to fight against kids for some time, have them join you! You can either get them involved in your project, or give them a separate one. They will enjoy not only the time they spend with you, but the final product that you create together. Search the Internet for project ideas you can do with your kids. If you want to decorate with items that will survive the younger years, use hanging plants (which cannot be reached) and tall artificial trees (which are hard to damage).
